Russian strike on Dnipro business centre kills three, Synelnykove attack kills one

A Russian strike hit a business centre in central Dnipro on Sunday, killing three people and injuring at least 12, regional military governor Oleksandr Hanzha said. Mykola Lukashuk, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, said Russian forces had "struck the city centre in the middle of the workday", when many people were in the building.

Rescuers pulled people from upper floors using a crane and an aerial ladder truck after part of the building caught fire. Emergency officials gave differing figures for the number rescued, with between 47 and 49 people reported freed from the building. Hromadske later reported that the number of injured had risen to at least 15, citing the regional administration; two women in moderate condition were taken to hospital, and search-and-rescue work continued at the site into the afternoon. Ukraine's State Emergency Service released images showing crews extinguishing the blaze at the business centre and helping the injured.

Ukraine's air force had warned at around 11:15am that jet-powered drones were heading towards Dnipro. In the immediate aftermath of the strike, officials said several people at the business centre were not responding to attempts to contact them, before the toll of three dead and at least a dozen injured was confirmed.

In a separate attack the same day, Russian forces struck a logistics company branch in Synelnykove, also in Dnipropetrovsk region, killing one person and injuring three, Hanzha said. Among the injured was a 15-year-old boy who was in a serious condition in hospital, according to Ukrainska Pravda and Hromadske. Firefighters extinguished a blaze at the site and a search-and-rescue operation was under way there too. An earlier report from Ukrinform had said three people were hurt in the Synelnykove strike, before Hanzha's fuller update confirmed one death and three injuries, including the teenager.

Russian forces also struck energy facilities in Dnipropetrovsk region on the same day, setting equipment on fire, Ukrainian energy company DTEK said. A separate drone strike damaged the office of OpenDataBot, an open-data service, in Dnipro; the company said its staff were unharmed and its service continued to operate normally.
